Visit Montpellier

Montpellier situated just 10km from the beach with easy access including it's own airport, railway station and to get around the city has it's tram network plus Uber! Montpellier is the seventh largest city in France.


























A popular study destination, Montpellier is one of the largest cities on France’s mediterranean coast, and boasts a chunky student population – around 600,000 residents, of which a third are students, giving it a cool student vibe. 


Montpellier is home to the Université de Montpellier, one of the oldest institutions in the world (established in the 13th century), which houses the oldest medical school still in operation.



Montpellier dates back to the 12th century, a trading town with great links across the med. During the 19th Century as much of the South, Montpellier thrived on wine culture. With 300 days of sun a year the wine grapes flourished. Montpellier citizens became very wealthy until the 1890s a fungal disease spread throughout the vines.


Montpellier is also famous for its wonderful gastronomy, but there is a lot to do in this city between mealtimes. Montpellier is one of Europe’s cultural capitals, it includes a lot of different museums, from the most classical to the ultra-modern.














Since  the 60s Montpellier has benefited from huge spending on infrastructure. Socialist mayor George FrĂȘche enjoyed a 27 year term as mayor welcoming businesses from the tech and services industries. 
Montpellier boasts some amazing architecture and with it's current districts increasing size in the south it won't be too long before Montpellier is completely connected to the wonderful beaches 10 minutes to the south of it.
